The Silence of Silicon Lambs

My first thought on the article was shocking. After reflecting on it a bit further, it became hopeless and disturbing. I didn't know much about Science Park to start with; any information would have been new and surprising, but what I do know is that it's one of the things/places Hsinchu is most well known for. It's one of our prides, and it's one of those places that gives a person an automatic promotion in status, making people gasp in awe, just for working there.
In this clean, reputable place, I never thought it would hide any dirty secrets. On the other hand, there are few corporations that are more environmentally friendly than they are harmful, so I guess you could say it was only to be expected. The powerful, flawless image is just something we want to believe.
To be honest, what they did didn't bother me so much as what they chose not to do. Sure, endangering people's health and the environment is not to be taken lightly, but what really angers me is the fact that they try to cover it up so the public doesn't know about it. Being able to control the media to hide the truth, even for the good of our image and economy, is something I've always been and will always be against.

I agree at what she wrote.
The science park did pollute the environment.
They must have better system of wasting their contaminates. All of different factories are using a tons of different toxic chemicals every day and it's a reason for all kinds of pollution. Pollution also cause of Global Warming !

I agree with Roxanne!!
Be honest too, what they did didn't bother me a lot. I even don't care about it. But, I will be anger if they had do something but they don't admit that they had do it. It's really a thing that killed me. You have to be responsible for your actions!!!!!!!

Honesty is a lovely thing. Unfortunately, it's also a very rare thing as well. All we can do is dig out the truth, ignoring the placating lies.
I'm not surprised so much as resigned....-_-;;

I think that honesty is the biggest factor out of 'The Silence of Silicon Lambs'. This is what they are lacking. Why are they being do dishonest especially when what they are doing are causing a big negative effect on the environment? I don't think what they are doing is the right thing. They are causing pollution even though they are providing lots of job opportunities for workers. Even though they are doing all of this, they are also hiding the real truth from the public. If I haven't read the article about this, I would have been clueless.

I hate science park for doing all those "low" things. I used to pass science park everyday, and every morning, very early, they release the invisible, but toxic air, the smell was disgusting, makes me want to blow the place up!!!

I agree, hiding it is the wicked. If they are really polluting the environment, they should be honest and tell the public about it. Most people will understand because they know the importance of economy. They should try to do something about the damage they're causing and not cover them up.

I agree with roxanne in the fact that what they are doing is wrong. But we have to see that there might be another side to these things, not that I am suggesting its true, but sometimes people don't have the money to care about the environment. Its like if you own a factory and it does not bring as much profit in, the environment will be the least of your concerns. IF we were to spend money on cleaning the water, that would mean, less money, and job cuts. Most likely if you went up to them and told them they were damaging the environment, they would think your crazy, you can think of it like, everyone is just trying to make a living, and when you cant help yourself....how do we even think about caring for others? Im not saying this is the case im, just saying this because it seems that everyone has the mindset that these companies have of m alot of money and they can pay for everything, but this might not be the case. Put yourselves in the eyes of the manager, if these co- workers were your friends and they all have families to sustain....could you bring yourself to fire them? You cant just take from the profits because for a company to survive and a economy to bloom, there has to he a sufficient amount of money to pay these workers, and profit. Big companies usually have the money to pay, but some small and private companies might not.
